Looking for a sea fishing adventure in Normandy? Dive into this exciting Norman experience featured on the program Ma petite escapade on France 3 French TV, now renamed ICI. Guillaume FOURRIER, a professional fishing guide based in Dieppe, is dedicated to helping his guests catch fish along the beautiful Normandy coastline.
The show is hosted by Clémence CASTEL, a two-time winner of Koh-Lanta (2005 and 2018), who excels at introducing her guests to unique outdoor activities while celebrating Normandy’s rich heritage and tourism. This episode’s special guests are the charming twin brothers Christophe and Bertrand, known as the “Fantaisistes Twins,” who create entertaining shows for community organizations.
Sea Fishing in Normandy at Dieppe
Among the activities, Clémence CASTEL invites Christophe and Bertrand to enjoy a sea fishing trip in Dieppe. She turns to Guillaume FOURRIER to take on the challenge: introducing the twin brothers to fishing along Normandy’s Alabaster Coast.
Challenging Conditions with a Strong Southwesterly Wind
The weather conditions are far from ideal. A strong breeze is forecasted, with southwesterly winds reaching 6 to 7 on the Beaufort scale. In Dieppe, this is an offshore wind, making it essential to stick close to the cliffs for shelter. At this time of year, only a few species remain near the coast. The challenge is to help the “Fantaisistes Twins” catch fish within just one hour!
Seabass Fishing to Start Off
As soon as they leave the port of Dieppe, Guillaume invites Christophe and Bertrand to make a few casts with lures along the breakwater to try and catch a seabass. The water is rich in plankton, and the fish aren’t biting. However, Christophe and Bertrand at least get to practice their lure casting skills. Next stop: a smooth-hound shark fishing spot.
Anchoring on a Rocky Plateau Along the Normandy Coast to Target the Smooth-Hound Shark
Our sport fishing guide Guillaume selects a fishing spot sheltered by the cliffs. Unfortunately, the timing isn’t ideal; the slack tide is approaching, and the boat ends up poorly positioned, making fishing more challenging.
A few pout fish bite the hooks and are released back into the water.
To conclude, after about an hour, the big catch finally arrives. It’s a spotted smooth-hound, a member of the shark family, much to the delight of our team. Christophe and Bertrand release the fish back into the water, hoping to see it again someday, even bigger!
