The Paris Normandie newspaper published an interview with Guillaume Fourrier. In this portrait, Guillaume announces for the first time the imminent creation of his fishing guide activity in Dieppe.
Rendez-vous avec Paris Normandie au port de Dieppe
Meeting with Paris Normandie at the port of Dieppe. The journalists from Paris Normandie visit the port of Dieppe to meet Guillaume on his boat. During the initial contact, Guillaume answers questions while preparing the boat. He then offers a sea trip to put theory into practice.
Bass fishing in the first few minutes
Guillaume has only a short hour for fishing. He starts by making a few casts of lures near the coast to target sea bass. However, the fish doesn’t respond, and 15 minutes pass quickly. Sea bass can bite at any moment, especially with swimming fish. It only takes a crossing of paths for it to seize the lure, even if it’s not hungry. Indeed, sometimes, it attacks the lure as a reflex of aggression and to defend its territory. Like a feline on a mouse, sea bass can be playful.
Catching a mackerel in one line
Guillaume then decides to change tactics. In this short time, he heads to a spot for mackerel fishing, then to another for sea bream. The mackerel is sought after to be used as bait. It quickly arrives at the boat, being an easy catch, especially when you know the right fishing spots. A single specimen is enough to be used as bait to catch the sea bream, a noble fish in Normandy.
Catching a sea bream in a few minutes
The boat heads to another sea bream spot on a calm sea. While Guillaume answers a video interview for the newspaper’s social media, he hooks a bite live and catches a beautiful sea bream.
Here is the video made by Stéphanie Péron from Paris Normandie.
It’s in the box; his guests indicate that this fish is enough to illustrate the interview, which will end while returning to the port.
The Paris Normandie journalist proposes a refreshing article on sports fishing, the second most practiced leisure activity by the French, yet not widely publicized.
Excerpts from the Paris Normandie article:
Guillaume has caught 200 species of fish
In August 2023, the father of three children caught his 200th species, a dolphinfish, during his vacation in Martinique.

“I will never have enough time in one life to learn everything about the sea. It’s infinite. And there are changes. Fish move due to rising temperatures and for reasons we don’t know. Fifteen days ago, there were bonitos in Dieppe,” notes Guillaume Fourrier, who “thinks about fishing all the time. My only week of disconnection is my ski vacation.”
Guillaume and his new fishing guide activity in Dieppe
From his passion, for which “you have to be optimistic and patient,” the Dieppe resident makes it his profession. While he was the marketing director of a fishing equipment company for nine years, the Covid epidemic hit. At that time, Guillaume Fourrier realised that he wanted a life “more connected to the sea,” and after reflection, he decided to become a fishing guide.

Cultivated pedagogical skills for over 25 years
Guillaume Fourrier has always wanted to share his passion. In 1998, he created his first website. For the past twenty years, he has been writing in the magazine “Pêche en mer” and has written thirteen books. If he used to transmit his knowledge through writing, he will now be able to do it directly.
